Lab tests consistently show CEM-LIME to be more effective at lowering Plasticity Index (PI) than cement or lime. In addition, the cementitious qualities of the product allow it to bind together in a matrix providing strength, durability and more resistance to water permeability than lime.

Cem-Lime can be used as an alternative for hydrated lime or cement in most soil applications. Generally, the percentage used would not differ from the typical amount of lime or cement used for the same purposes. However, when used to replace cement, testing might be needed to meet higher strength criteria (if required).

Cem-Lime is manufactured to the same consistent quality as our standard specification cements. It is simply a cementitious product modified to have much higher free lime content. This additional lime content adds calcium hydroxide, the primary compound responsible for lowering the plasticity index (PI) of clay soil.

Cem-Lime has been designed to serve the same purpose as both lime and cement for soil modification or stabilization.
